Data You Give Us Directly
Search Queries
A name or date of birth typed into one of the search tools on this site travels directly to the outside provider that runs that tool. The provider processes the request and returns the results. We do not keep or log what you typed.
Messages and Contact Submissions
If you email us, we hold onto that message so we can write back. It stays inside our organization, and we do not pass it to anyone else unless a legal obligation requires it.
Data We Gather Automatically
Each time a page here loads, our servers record ordinary technical details about the visit:
- The IP address your device is using
- Your browser and its version
- Your device type and operating system
- Which pages you opened and how long each one stayed on screen
- Any site that referred you here
- A timestamp for each page view
Cookies and Analytics
This site uses cookies, which are small files saved on your device. They help us see which pages draw traffic and where readers leave. Analytics services help us combine that information into aggregate reports. You can block cookies in your browser settings at any time, though some parts of the site may behave differently if you do.
What We Do With This Data
- Keeping the site online and loading quickly
- Routing your search request to the correct partner service
- Learning which pages help readers and which need work
- Finding and fixing technical problems
- Showing advertising that may match your interests
No Warrant Data on File
This site does not host, compile, maintain, or sell any database of warrants or personal warrant records. We publish general guidance about where Garrett County warrant records are held and how to reach the offices that keep them, including the sheriff's office, the District Court, and the Clerk of the Circuit Court.
We are not a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act, and nothing we collect about visitors is assembled into consumer reports or files about other people.
Third-Party Search Partners
Search boxes on this site belong to outside companies. Anything entered into one of those tools is handled under that company's privacy policy rather than this one. Those partners set their own retention and sharing rules, and we have no control over them. Read a partner's policy before you submit a search.
Links to Other Websites
This site links out to sheriff's office pages, Maryland court portals, state agency resources, and third-party search tools. Following any of those links takes you off this site, and the destination's privacy policy governs what happens next. Read it before sharing personal details.
Some advertising partners may track activity across sites to show targeted ads. That tracking happens on their systems, not ours.
Who Might See Your Data
We do not sell personal data. Some information can reach:
- Search partners that handle queries you run here
- Analytics services that measure traffic and performance
- Ad networks that place advertising on our pages
- Law enforcement or government offices when a valid legal order requires it
How We Protect Your Data
We use standard security practices to protect what we collect. No internet-connected system is completely safe, and we cannot promise that a breach will never occur. We do what we reasonably can to limit the data we hold and to keep it secure.
Users Under 18
This site is written for adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If you believe a minor has sent us data, contact us and we will delete it.
Your Data Rights
Maryland privacy and consumer-protection law may give you additional rights over your data, depending on where you live and what you have shared. At a minimum, you can:
- Ask for a copy of what we hold about you
- Ask us to correct information that is wrong
- Ask us to delete your data
- Opt out of certain kinds of processing
Updates to This Policy
We may revise this policy as the site changes. When we do, the new version appears on this page with an updated effective date. Check back if you want to follow how we handle visitor information.
